This Website is owned and operated by the Community Service Society of New York (CSS). Visitors to our site may be concerned about the information they provide to us, and how we treat that information. This Privacy Policy addresses those concerns. This policy may be changed or updated from time to time.
CSS uses its best efforts to respect the privacy of its online visitors. At our site, we do not collect personally identifiable information from individuals unless they provide it to us voluntarily and knowingly. This means we do not require you to register or provide information to us in order to view our site.
CSS gathers personally identifiable data, such as names, addresses, zip/postal codes, e-mail addresses, etc., only when voluntarily submitted by a visitor. For example, personally identifiable information may be collected in order to make a donation online or to be placed on our e-mail list for occasional updates on CSS issues. This information is used by CSS solely for internal purposes and is not sold to third parties. We will share personally identifiable information with third parties only when the person submitting the information authorizes us to share it or we are required to by law.
By giving us this identifying information you agree that CSS has permission to contact you in the future and solicit your support for our worthy activities.

Cookies
When you visit Turnstile the pages you see, along with a short text file called a 'cookie', are downloaded to your computer. This is a common practice of websites, because cookies enable website publishers to do useful things like find out whether the computer (and probably its user) has visited the website before. This is done on a repeat visit by checking to see, and finding, the cookie left there on the last visit.
Cookies record information about your online preferences. Information supplied by cookies can help us make your online experience more useful and assist us in determining the content preferences of our visitors. For example: if on a previous visit you scanned a discussion on high school dropout rates, we might find this out from your cookie and highlight educational information on your subsequent visits.
A cookie is a small amount of data, which often includes an anonymous unique identifier that is sent to your browser from a website's computer and stored on your computer's hard drive. Each website can send its own cookie to your browser if your browser's preferences allow it, but (to protect your privacy) your browser only permits a web site to access the cookies it has already sent to you, not the cookies sent to you by other sites.
As users, Turnstile members have the opportunity to set their computers to accept all cookies, to notify them when a cookie is issued, or not to receive cookies at any time. If a member opts to block cookies, the member may not be able to take full advantage of all of the dynamic features of the website. Each web browser is different so check the "Help" menu of your browser to learn how to change your cookie preferences. If you have set your computer to reject cookies you can still browse Turnstile anonymously until such time as you wish to register Turnstile services.
When you supply any personal information to Turnstile we have legal obligations towards you in the way we use that data. We must collect the information fairly, that is, we must explain how we will use it and tell you if we want to pass the information on to anyone else.
The Community Service Society (CSS), its agents and service providers, will maintain strict control of any information you provide to Turnstile. Your information will be disclosed where we are obliged or permitted by law. Also, if you post or send offensive, inappropriate or objectionable content anywhere on or to Turnstile or otherwise engage in any disruptive behavior on the website, CSS can use whatever information that is available to it about you to stop such behavior. This may involve informing law enforcement agencies about the content and your actions.
We will hold your personal information on our systems for as long as you use the service you have requested, and remove it in the event that the purpose has been met, or, in the case you no longer wish to continue your registration as a Turnstile member.
If you are notified by Turnstile that your information may be used to allow CSS to contact you for "service administration purposes," this means that CSS may contact you for a number of purposes related to the service for which you have signed up. For example, we may wish to provide you with password reminders or notify you that the particular service you have requested has been suspended for maintenance. We will not contact you for promotional purposes; such as notifying you of improvements to the service or new services on Turnstile unless you specifically agree to be contacted for such purposes at the time you submit your information on the site, or at a later time if you sign up specifically to receive such promotional information.
You have the right to request a copy of the personal information CSS holds about you and to have any inaccuracies corrected. Please address requests to:
