Turnstile is an online forum that seeks to foster a conversation between organization leaders, community activists and advocates, and the larger community on pertinent issues affecting low-income New Yorkers. We support the First Amendment but require all Turnstile members to adhere to a Code of Conduct to maintain decorum and the integrity of the dialogue.
As a Turnstile member you agree to:
- Refrain from the use of profanity and derogatory language.
- Abstain from personal attacks against other Turnstile members and contributors.
- Refrain from SHOUTING (typing in CAPS) in posting comments.
- Stick to the TRUTH. Opinions are welcome but we urge caution in making assumptions, and always back up claims with sources or web links.
- Respect all opinions expressed online.
- Maintain the privacy of your membership.
Turnstile is a nonpartisan forum so members are not allowed to explicitly campaign for or against political candidates or political parties. In the interest of fairness we ask that all elected officials and candidates for public office identify their official status when posting comments.
We also encourage young people to join the discussion on Turnstile but in the interest of child protection, children under 16 years old are not allowed to be members. Any person under age 16 found to have joined Turnstile would have their membership immediately revoked.
In agreeing to adhere to this Code of Conduct you acknowledge your understanding of the rules of behavior and accept that a determination that you have violated this Code may be cause for the termination of your Turnstile membership. Membership in Turnstile is subject to the conditions listed above and determined by the site’s publisher: The Community Service Society (CSS).
