Partnership Initiatives

The Partnership Initiative, launched in January 2009, teams the Community Service Society with community based organizations providing workforce development or educational services which promote employment and increased economic stability. CSS enhances those programs’ ability to meet the myriad needs of their participants by offering emergency financial assistance and public benefits training, education and technical assistance.

Level I Partners have access to financial assistance for their participants as well as the range of training, consultation and publications. Level II Partners can attend all trainings free of charge, use the on-line PBRC Manual and get individualized consultation from our benefit experts

Employment and other community based programs often encounter individuals who face financial and benefit/housing barriers which challenge their ability to complete programs, obtain employment or maintain a job. The Partnership Initiative will build capacity in twenty (20) community based organizations.

CSS’ combination of expertise in and access to financial assistance and benefits/housing training, consultation and advocacy could allow people to better cover their basic expenses while in training and facilitate a smoother transition to work. While gaps would still exist, education about public medical insurance programs, child care, food stamps and other transitional work related benefits may allow people to take the first step into employment or be able to sustain a job which otherwise would be impossible.
